It is very important to inspect your skin regularly, particularly between Mole Screening appointments. It is vital to become familiar with your skin, and to notify your GP or the clinic if you notice any changes in a mole or lesion.
Protecting your Skin
It is very important to protect your skin from UV rays. During your appointment, you will be advise of the best ways to stay sun safe.
- Seek shade when out in the sun, especially from 11am – 3pm during the months of April – September.
- Cover up by wearing a loose collared shirt with long sleeves, long trouser/skirts, and a hate that shades your face, neck and ears.
- Wear sunglasses, wraparounds if possible, that give UV protection.
- Be sure to wear sunscreen, at least SPF 30, with the UVA logo on the bottle. Water resistant is best. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside, and reapply every two hours while your out in the sun.
